I bought a 20xp book from the Custom Enchants GUI today and it did not give me a nether star or the book. Not sure if you can do anything about it but just in case it was a ThunderingBlow I book.

yea its because u had something in your hand when u clicked on it. When u purchase a star make sure that ur not holding anything.
